Bio
Liisa Morton is a documentary photographer based in Toronto. Her photo essays have explored the lives of artists and youth culture. Her current series, "All Hopped Up!", began in 1995 when she attended her first rockabilly weekender in the small town of Marion, IN. She fell in love with the vintage style & roots music she saw there & spent the next several years photographing at as many rockabilly weekenders and hot rod shows as she could, in cities such as San Francisco, L.A, Denver and Las Vegas. This resulting series of photographs captures the exciting energy of these weekenders and documents a candid, behind the scenes look into the lives of these tight-knit communities. Her work has appeared at the Doomed Gallery, London, the Ripe Gallery, NY & the Book & Job Gallery, San Francisco.
